What we are about....

This website is devoted to giving support and encouragement to the parents of adult children. Unfortunately there are many young people in their twenties and thirties that, in essence, "refuse to grow up" and accept the responsibilities of adult living. A difficult result of this is that those same adult children continually look to their parents for not only emotional support, but financial support as well.

A challenge to generations...
SurvivingAdultChildren.com is a website devoted to all the aspects of raising, training, supporting, enduring, and, yes, surviving adult children. Our society is in an unusual time and situation. In general, fifty years ago, children began assuming adult roles right out of high school. Twenty-five years ago, more seemed to "grow up" following a few years of college. Today, more and more young adults are living longer with their parents, and some are coming back home after failing to make it on their own.

SurvivingAdultChildren.com will explore all the aspects of this unusual phenomenom. Maybe, as a parent, you actually want your children to always be with and dependent on you. Or maybe you can't wait for the day when they leave. Regardless of how you feel, your opinion is welcome here. We encourage you to speak up on our discussion board. Maybe you'll learn something...then, again, you may be able to teach others from your own experiences.

Although we welcome the help of therapists and other mental health professionals, we recognize that some of the most practical advice will come from the "real" experts...those who have been through, or are currently struggling with, the challenges of both loving and helping their adult children to become as happy and successful as they can possibly be.
